I Like the Toy Soldier Scene from Toy Story
Toy Story 1 wasn't just a story about characters that happened to be toys, it also had to be an exploration of the very concept itself: What if your toys were alive? What would it be like, what sorts of things would they do? And I think the toy soldier scene is a great demonstration of this.
Green plastic toy soldiers are a pretty popular toy, I think a lot of kids watching would have had some. They feel timeless. It feeds into the concept, kids can imagine this happening to their own toys. The scene takes something that we're familiar with and presents it from this different, whimsical perspective. It makes a spectacle out of something mundane.
What if your toy soldiers were alive? Well, they might go on a military mission in your house. They might sneak out of your bedroom and into your living room. They might try to gain intel on your birthday presents. And what if they slid down a skipping rope and hid inside your decorative plant? Isn't that fun? It's a perfect execution of the idea.
